The force of technology is changing the landscape of our workforce. This has generated a skills gap – the gap between the skills that workers have and the ones that they need. As companies adopt technologies like automation, robotics, and Artificial Intelligence, there is a need to reskill and upskill the existing workforce. There is no better time to learn about skills like data annotation.
This internship will provide interested students with such an opportunity. Students will get an introduction to the 4th Industrial Revolution and support the training of a computer vision machine learning neural network. Students will develop skills in labeling content, creating data, and using web-based annotation tools. Each intern will be a part of revolutionary emerging technology that is critical to leading the industries of the future, and improving lives, livelihoods, and productivity.
Goodwill is conducting a visionary project to determine whether computer vision machine learning can accurately identify a clothing item’s size, type, fabric composition, and quality. This unique model will improve Goodwill’s retail operations by getting higher quality products out to sell, increasing sell through rate, and raising more funds for our mission. This work could potentially scale to the more than 3,200 retail locations in the Goodwill network.
This internship will take place between May 31st and August 6th. Each intern is expected to work 30 hours per week and maintain productivity levels of 1 annotation per minute, minimum.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This opportunity operates remotely and requires the proper computer or laptop devices and computer proficiency to perform these tasks. Speed and attention to detail are essential.
Training and Orientation
Virtual training and orientation will be provided.
