  • Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Director of IT, the Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting all telephone and computer systems including hardware, software and peripherals, and providing necessary training to the user community. This position is also responsible for the setup, configuration, and day to day maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and administration of the Microsoft Windows systems. This position is also responsible for tier 1 and 2 level support of the Goodwill user community.


    Essential Functions

    •  Setup, configuration, and maintenance of all Servers including attending to daily and weekly backups, Anti-Virus updates, and service pack, hotfix, and patch updates.
    • Implement and maintain documentation as related to the Goodwill of Western MO & Eastern KS IT systems.
    • Assist in the review of software applications and make recommendations for purchase.
    • Assist in the development of computer related policies and procedures.
    • Manage user accounts for the network and phone systems. Includes Add, Update, Disable, and Delete.
    • Assist in the training of new employees in the use of computer and telephone systems.
    • Install computer equipment and/or telephone systems including network installations (Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet, and Local Area Network (LAN)).
    • Assist staff with day to day technology related problems. Log all technology related issues in the IT Spriceworks ticketing system.
    • Assist in the review of software systems for system integrity and compatibility with other Goodwill of Western MO & Eastern KS software systems.
    • Answer Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical issues.
    • Develop software systems as needed.
    • Demonstrates a willingness to serve on Agency committees and participation in Agency activities as requested.
    • Preserve the health and safety of Goodwill of Western MO & Eastern KS facilities at all times.
    • High degree of sensitivity displayed toward persons with disabilities and/or disadvantages.
    •  All other duties assigned by the Director of IT


    The Systems Administrator will be a proven leader with the following:

    •  Must have a complete understanding of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Windows Active Directory Services (ADS), Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact and effectively communicate with persons at all levels on a one-to-one basis and in larger group settings.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to convey knowledge to others.
    • Ability to adapt to a variety of duties, often changing tasks from one to another without a loss of efficiency or composure.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize projects in order to meet deadlines. Excellent administrative and time management skills.
    • Ability to assess the needs of users and user departments. Where necessary, offer potential solutions for software and/or hardware needs.
    • Must have reliable transportation, a clean MVR, valid driver’s license, and current insurance to travel on company related business.
    • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. as needed.
    • Must be able to sit a computer monitor for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to handle frequent short deadlines requiring occasional additional hours. Work may be hectic with periods of high stress.
