  • Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Director of Risk Management the Safety Manager is responsible for oversight of Agency safety programs, including OSHA compliance, assessing organizational safety and developing programs to address needs.


    Essential Functions

    • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards
    • Track and communicate changes in standards and regulations
    • Ensure staff receives OSHA – required training
    • Investigate and resolve OSHA complaints and inquiries
    • Develop and administer formal safety program for Agency staff
    • Update required formal plans to satisfy OSHA and CARF requirements
    • Ensure program is comprehensive and detailed to fit all Agency locations
    • Develop and oversee regular site inspections
    • Establish benchmarks and best-practices as they pertain to safety
    • Work in tandem with HR to oversee work comp process
    • Investigate injuries as they occur, if needed
    • Track and investigate injury and incident trends
    • Work closely with regulating agencies to reduce work comp costs and experience ratings
    • Chair Safety Committee and hold regular meetings to discuss concerns, trends and issues
    • Ensure safety drills are conducted at all locations
    • Develop, schedule and conduct safety training, as needed
    • All other duties assigned by the Director of Risk Management


    • Proven leadership, with the ability to collaborate and drive change/improvement
    • Knowledge of safety best-practices, OSHA compliance and industry standards
    • Knowledge of retail, office and warehouse environments as they pertain to safety
    • Comfort training groups and individuals on safety techniques
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety management
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required. College degree preferred.
      • Solid comfort level with computers, including the Window’s environment and the ability to assist in the development of online training and lead web-based meetings
    • Familiarity with safety requirements in a warehouse/retail environment
    • Ability to become certifications as necessary:
      • OSHA certified to operate and train on industrial power trucks
      • Certified to train others in CPR and on AED devices
    • Must possess a working passenger vehicle that can be used to visit Agency locations during the course of work
