  • Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Career Impact Program Manager, the Career Scout develops relationships within the Kansas City and surrounding area business community.  The employer relationships are developed to obtain organizational outcomes such as client placements, assessment and internship sites, enhanced program partnerships and potential business fee for service contracts.  


    Essential Functions

    • Strategically identifies and develops employer relationships that lead to long-term client placements, assessment and internship sites, program partnerships and potential business fees for service contracts
    • Identify and analyze labor market trends for the purpose of employer recruitment, client placement and industry-selection strategic planning
    • Develop business partnerships through the following venues:
      • Online Job searches
      • Scripted phone calls and emails
      • Tours and informational interviews
      • Networking events: job fairs, Chamber events, community collaborative work groups or committees
    • Communicates with appropriate staff and employers regarding individuals who are seeking placement into employment
    • Communicates regularly with the Career Impact Program Manager
    • Provides prompt and accurate reporting of employer progress, client interviews scheduled, interviews completed, and interview outcomes within the required database system and to the appropriate staff
    • Maintains employer contact to identify concerns related to client placement and to advise appropriate staff of support that may be needed to ensure client success
    • Maintains effective communication with internal and external Agency mission team members in order to facilitate successful delivery of services
    • All other duties assigned by the Career Impact Program Manager


    The Career Scout will be a proven leader with the following:

    • Bachelor's degree and one year of successful experience in working in a business in sales or other similar services to customers is preferred. New graduates with community integrated activities experience may be considered
    • Minimum of one year experience in business development activities and lead generation, or applicable community integrated activities experience
    • Working knowledge of internet search engines, resume writing and solid interviewing skills
    • Microsoft Office and Windows proficiency, typing ability
    • Must have and maintain reliable transportation, clean MVR, valid license and insurance to transport clients and/or drive for company-related business.
    • Ability to work both independently through self-motivation in an unstructured position and with a team and stakeholders from many different areas.
    • Versatility and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to draft business correspondence with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
    • Effective, appropriate and professional communication and demeanor
    • Ability to recognize potential problems within processes and recommend appropriate solutions
    • A high degree of sensitivity towards all persons with or without different abilities/disadvantages
    • Excellent employer/client relations; ability to provide a positive, motivational environment
